A while ago I decided to merge this blog with my inspiration blog here. If you want the latest on design, illustration, fashion, decoration, and adventure, go to Poulet Poulet. :-)

Posting

I've been terribly busy with work and have neglected my blogging for a while now. I want to get back to it very much, but in order to do so I need to get my computer cleaned up, as well as plan some sort of posting strategy that will make it possible for me to maintain my blog, work and life at the same time. I'm in sort of a rut and there's a lot of things I need to figure out. But rest assured I'll be back with lots of new content as soon as I figure out how to post as often as I want to. :-)

Rethinking things

I've been thinking a lot about this blog as well as my other blog Poulet-Poulet. I think I've taken them in a wrong direction. I got so emerged in illustration that I forgot that my whole reason for blogging in the first place was to share my view on things, to have an online journal and keep track of my days and experiences. In stead a created a guilt-blog, a  blog that made me feel bad when I didn't have any new work or drawings to add, and that wasn't my intention. So I'll be going back to basics and start writing the content I want to and not what I think people want me to write about. Stay tuned! :D

Happy Easter

Okay so I just want to let you know that I'm sick at the moment and have to stay in bed. I can't really use my computer as my eyes are too sensitive for my screen. As soon as I'm well I'll have plenty of new and exciting content to share with you. Hope you all have a very happy Easter or Passover and I'll see you soon!

Monster Update

It's been a while since I've posted. I've just had so much to do and been so busy with work. But there's lots to share so I'll just go right ahead.

First of all we've updated our website at work with a new front page design. I have a new design partner, Michal Bendtsen, who's very cool and good at game design. He and I are making a lot of changes for Moviestar Planet so hopefully it'll start looking much better than before. We're also working on a lot of other new things that I'll post in the future. This is the new front page design:

Besides work I haven't had much time to be creative but I did succeed in making some crazy sketches with my boyfriend one night. I'll add them later on. I also tried drawing David Bowie for my kid sister but the results were pretty awful. I have to really remind myself not to quit when I make something that looks like crap. I have to learn from my mistakes and I can't do that if I hide my work away and don't get feedback. So well, here's Bowie made in pencil, watercolor and photoshop sketching:

I've also been playing around with a new photo editing program that I just got my hands on. The results are really good. I'll write more about that later as well. I'll try to update more often when I have more energy. Work takes up a lot of my time, not only during the day but also when I'm off. I just can't seem to let it go. Anyway, here are some of my photos, one of New York and another of Paris. I'll update more soon.

Shopping Frenzy

I love fashion, design and all that but I'm also a major gadget geek, so when I can combine the three I get really excited. So I just bought three girlylicious bling iPhone covers online. They don't get more girly than this but I just had to have them. I plan to make my own as well but need to collect some things first. I've been shopping a lot this month and last, and have been enjoying the winter sales. Now I need to stop spending money and start earning them instead.

Character design - Boonies

I haven't had time to post much this week. I've been working on the VIP version of our in-game pet called a Boonie. This character was developed by me, to be the pet of the game avatars we have. It's supposed to be a kind of alien race and it's very cute. It has 4 different stages so you don't immediately know what it will look like and it hatches from a big polka dotted egg. It's animated so you can feed it and pet it. Here are a couple of examples of the Boonie designs I've worked on this week.

018 - Panda

I drew this Panda for my boyfriend. He loves pandas and wanted a drawing so I made him one. This is just a quick scan of it.

017 - My Flower

I keep having busy days so I haven't been able to draw for a while. Well, I've sketched but I'll add those later. My upload today will be a photo I took of some very pretty flowers. Enjoy.

Space Girl

This is the main costume I worked on today. For the boys I'm making a Death costume. Very freaky.

016 - Silly Creature

I was in the middle of work and suddenly saw this little mischievious guy in my mind. So I drew a quick sketch of him so I wont forget him. I think I'll call him Jinx.

015 - Tony Soprano

Today I found myself missing the Sopranos, especially Tony. The last two months I watched all seasons of the show and think it's the best series I've ever seen without exception. It never got boring and the character gallery was amazing. And you never knew what would happen so everything was always a surprise and sometimes the suspense was unbearable. So today I decided to send my boyfriend a quick little Tony sketch on MSN Messenger. I love the fact that you can draw in the messenger window. It's not a perfect likeness or anything but it got the message across.

Costume Design

A Danish holiday called Fastelavn is coming up. It's kinda like Halloween, only less spooky. Kids dress up in all kinds of costumes and eat special baked goods called Fastelavnsboller. It's like rolls filled with cream. So naturally I'm making new costumes for the game I work on. I'm nowhere near done but it's a lot of fun to do something other than regular fashion. Here are some examples:

014 - Classic Opera

I'm so forgetting to make these dailies. It's not that I'm not active, I just forget to post. Today I played around with a photo I took in Paris in 2008 at the Opera House. It's such a gorgeous place and I felt like sharing.

WIP - Gingerbread House part 2

This is my update on my Gingerbread House illustration. Next up is color and lines. I'm thinking of making this in three different versions to practise different methods.

My Mail Me Art 2 Submission

Yesterday was all about making the Mail Me Art deadline. I haven't participated before but I really wanted to send something in just to be a part of it. I think it's a great concept and a lot of the artwork is fantastic. It was hard to do in time as I haven't had any time off of work lately, but I did it! The artwork didn't quite turn out as I had planned but I'm quite happy with the whole feel of it. And I've never painted with acrylics before so that was fun. I wanted to make an old fashioned Danish postman and I think he turned out okay. I made him into a jumping jack and he's attatched to the evelope with pins. Fortunately my post office guaranteed me that the date stamp would be from today so I should be able to make the deadline. Yay.

WIP - Rollo Racoon and The Gingerbread House

As you know I'm trying to become better at drawing. So right now I'm trying to draw my character Coonie at a gingerbread house. This is a work in progress and so far I only have a few elements sketched out. I'm not even sure of the layout yet.

Here's my progress of the day:

013 - Mmm...macaroons

I just finished a watercolor I did some weeks ago. I needed to add the lineart in Photoshop. I might work more on this later. Not sure if I'm satisfied with the line work. Suggestions are welcome.

012 - I'm the man!

Okay so I haven't been able to draw every day. I've simply been to busy with work. I didn't draw today either but I recovered an old sketch and decided to finish it up a bit. So here we go, the piece of the day.

011 - Grunge Poulet Poulet

Okay so today I decided to play around in Photoshop and do something different than what I normally do. This is basically just practise as I haven't really had time to fool around with Photoshop for quite a while.

010 - Poulet Poulet

Okay, so I'm a little behind on my daily submissions. I've been caught up in work so haven't been able to find time to draw or anything. But today was Sunday so I decided to give watercolor another go and make the famous Poulet Poulet. I expect to make many many two-headed chickens in the weeks to come as I want it to be my logo. This was just my first try as well as painting practise. The chicken is pure watercolor and lineart was drawn in Photoshop.

009 - Cookie Font

Okay, so I've wanted to do Cookie lettering for quite some time now but I didn't quite know how to go about it. As I want big crisp letters I've used a big stencil. That means I have to use a lot of cookie dough if I want to create the entire alphabet. So before I start making all the letters I want to try different types of dough in order to find the one that looks the best for this typeface. My first one is Double Chocolate Chip and is an all brown dough, and I'm going to focus on the word POULET.

008 - Party Girl

This is some of my actual work. I'm designing some clothes for the VIPs on the online game I work for. I'm going for the whole punk-trashy-life trend and so far the girls seem to love it. Personally I'd love to have hair like this!

007 - My Guilty Pleasure

Okay, so today I decided to get creative with cookies. It totally didn't work so they came out as regular chocolate chip cookies - but oh so yummy! My submission today is a photo of my guilty pleasure.

My portfolio

I'm trying to build my portfolio and need to decide what to include and what to exclude. I'd appreciate all feedback! View it here: http://www.pouletpoulet.com/

006 - Witness

This poor kiwi was witness to the grusome murder of his brother.

005 - An apple a day

I took this picure today on my way to the supermarket. I couldn't resist photographing the cute little lonely apple hanging on the branch all by itself, only accompanied by a single wrinkled leaf.

Last of the pink berries

Okay, I have to share the last berry photograph as well. There's just something magical about pink berries! I can just imagine a little fairy dancing around these and dipping her toes in the glittery droplets.

004 - Brownie the Bear

Today I made a watercolor of a wonderful warm forest friend that I call Brownie the Bear. He's a big old cuddly fella and I hope you'll see more of him later as I'm actually writing a little story about him that I'm also going to illustrate.

003 - Another pink berry

Well, I just love the pink berries so I want to share another shot of them. This is my day 3 submission as well. So far so good. :-)

Snow blossoms

I took this picture outside our building when we were on our way to the airport to go to Prague. I love nature shots, especially if they involve pink berries!
